Even though senior tight end and long-snapper Paul Kuppich is a walk-on in his first, and last, year with the Irish, he is trying to make the most of his Notre Dame experience.

Kuppich transferred to Notre Dame from Columbia after his freshman year, and he said the biggest difference he has experienced between the two schools is Notre Dame's sense of community.

For the second time in school history, the Loyola men's soccer team won the Horizon League Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament with Sunday's 1-0 win over Cleveland State.

"It's a goal that you have at the beginning of the year, and I'm just proud of the guys with the way they stayed focused and overcame adversity to win the championship," coach Brendan Eitz said.

UIC soccer waited 12 days to play in the Horizon League tournament, and after a 1-0 home loss Friday night to Loyola, the top seeded Flames were left playing the waiting game for another three days.

The Flames, ranked ninth last week in the coaches' poll, were left to await news on their postseason fate after failing to secure the automatic bid awarded to the League tournament champion.
